Deliver Services

The delivery component of the ASCA National model describes how we, as school counselors at Jesses Owens, provide activities and services to our students. Here at Jesse Owens, in our school counseling program, we deliver services either directly or indirectly.  Regarding direct services, these are our core interventions, lessons, or activities that help our students improve in achievement, attendance, and discipline. We help students achieve the ASCA  Mindsets & Behaviors for success through instruction, appraisal, advisement, and counseling.

On the other hand, we also deliver services for our students indirectly. This involves our school counselors providing information to our stakeholders, such as parents, staff, teachers, etc., to promote change to address the needs of a group of students, maybe underachieving or underrepresented groups within our school.

At Jesse Owens, students can access the direct services of the school counseling program by means of instruction in small groups, large groups, classrooms, or individual appraisal, advisement, or counseling. The students can benefit from indirect services by means of interactions with others.

On the other hand, parents can access the counselor on behalf of their children by means of teaming and partnering, parent workshops, community partnerships, and crisis responses. This can also include consultation, collaboration, and referrals.
